چکیده

In this paper we introduce a novel end-to-end approach for achieving the dual goal of enhanced reliability under path failures and multi-path load balancing in mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs). These goals are achieved by fully exploiting the presence of multiple paths in mobile ad hoc networks in order to jointly attack the problems of frequent route failures and load balancing. More specifically, we built a disjoint-path identification mechanism for maintaining multiple routes between two endpoints on top of the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP), and the Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) protocol. A number of additional modifications are incorporated to the SCTP protocol in order to allow its smooth operation. The proposed approach differs from previously related work since it consists an entirely end-to-end scheme built on top of a transport layer protocol. We provide both analytical and simulation results that prove the efficiency of our approach over a wide range of mobility scenarios. 2004 Published by Elsevier B.V.

Improvement of the mechanism of congestion avoidance in mobile networks

Mobile ad hoc network congestion control is a significant problem. Standard mechanism for congestion control (TCP), the ability to run certain features of a wireless network, several mutations are not common. In particular, the enormous changes in the network topology and the joint nature of the wireless network. It also creates significant challenges in mobile ad hoc networks (MANET), density ...

Improving Quality of Service Routing in Mobile Ad Hoc Networks Using OLSR

Mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) are constructed by mobile nodes without access point. Since MANET has certain constraints, including power shortages, an unstable wireless environment and node mobility, more power-efficient and reliable routing protocols are needed. The OLSR protocol is an optimization of the classical link state algorithm. OLSR introduces an interesting concept, the multipoint r...

Stability and Energy Aware Multipath Routing for Mobile Ad Hoc Networks

Multipath routing protocols for Mobile Ad hoc NETwork (MANET) addresses the problem of load balancing, scalability, security and life time of networks. In this paper, we propose a new multipath protocol, Stability and Energy Aware Multipath Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector (SEAM-AODV) protocol which is an enhancement of Ad hoc On-demand Distance Vector (AODV) protocol. It designs a bi-objective...

MP-OLSR: Multi-Path OLSR for Mobile Ad hoc Networks

One of the main challenges for mobile ad hoc networks is to design routing protocols that cope efficiently with dynamic network topologies. In this paper, we propose a new routing protocol called Multi-Path Optimized Link State Routing Protocol (MP-OLSR). The main idea is to use the sizeable amount of information collected by every node in OLSR in order to select not one but several reliable ro...
